In a post on her Facebook page today, failed Hewlett-Packard CEO and ‘demon sheep’ candidate Carly Fiorina announced that she is aborting her flagging campaign for the Republican presidential nomination after finishing seventh in Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary. When she enthusiastically endorsed the smear campaign against Planned Parenthood, Fiorina went so far as to insist that…

  1. I know this piece is satire—and pretty good satire, at that—but I’m happy to see the back of Carly Fiorina.

She won’t stay gone for long, though. In a few years, she’ll decide to try to buy another elected office and, since she lives in California, I’ll get to see the entire doomed campaign (it’ll be easy to spot: just look for the burning bales of money). Oh, joy.

      1. She could do that, but that doesn’t suit her. She’s internalized the old sports expression: Go big or go home.

She went big the first time, in 2010—going for Barbara Boxer’s Senate seat—and lost by 10 points in an R wave election to Boxer, who didn’t even bother to campaign after the primary. She went even bigger this year and got her head handed to her again.

I see her trying for California governor, maybe in two years, maybe in six. Unfortunately for her, all anyone has to do is show her “Demon Sheep” ad from the 2010 primary and she’ll be toast. Again.

Carly Fiorina keeps going big, but she refuses to go home.

          1. It’s an easy mistake to make. Meg Whitman is almost perfectly forgettable (I had to look up who ran against Jerry Brown in ’10).

          2. I looked up their wiki pages, and they look similar (Caucasian females, short haircuts, thin, business suit) and are both business persons.
