anti gay hate crime victim

An Ohio State University student’s message went viral after he was the victim of a hate crime last week.

Cole Ledford told NBC News he was punched after kissing his boyfriend near the OSU campus. Ledford was left with a swollen face and a black eye.

Ledford took to Twitter and wrote a response to his attacker:

I’m sorry whatever insecurities you have don’t allow you to accept others for who they are. I’m sorry I threaten you. I’m NOT sorry I’m gay. I’m proud to be this way. I’m proud to be confident enough to love who I love and to love me. I’m proud to have friends and family that love me regardless of me. Honestly, I’m not sorry.”

“I was actually so embarrassed by what had happened, I didn’t want it to be a big deal. So I wanted to post that to all my friends here at Ohio State so they knew what had happened and no one would question why I had the black eye,” Ledford told reporters. He has received support and well-wishes from allies around the world.

  1. I wonder how much attention that is going to flip back to him, including some of the trolls that live online just for stuff like this. It is sad when anyone is a victim of a crime, let alone a hate one (for anything). I wonder if the news of this going viral ends up getting the guy who did it locked up?

    1. I bet he gets a lot of hate and a lot of support too. You just never know. Haters are going to hate. It’s a sad world when people get beat up for things like this.
