Those of us old enough to remember a day when news agencies waited until they had developed the facts and coalesced them into a narrative supported by those facts are shaking our heads on this Friday afternoon.

Reuters and the NY Times report that the “device” which contained emails that “may be relevant” to the FBI investigation into the Hillary Clinton private server brouhaha was in fact multiple devices. They belonged to Clinton Aide Huma Abedin and her estranged husband, former Congressman Anthony Weiner.

The New York Times reported the emails the FBI is investigating were found on devices belonging to Clinton aide Huma Abedin and former Congressman Anthony Weiner. Weiner had been under federal investigation over allegations that he traded sexually explicit messages with an underage girl. Weiner and Abedin separated in August.

screen-shot-2016-10-28-at-2-42-57-pmHow nice it would have been, how much sturm und drang could have been avoided if the media waited before filing their breathless reports about the FBI “reopening” the case (untrue) to investigate emails from Clinton’s server (untrue) that will shed light on the Democratic nominee’s illegal (untrue) use of a private server while Secretary of State.

Could it be the FBI and its GOP-leaning director have tried to wreck the chances of a Clinton victory by throwing a Weiner into the works?

  1. The media has to have a horse race. This is not going to change the Clinton win one iota. It was a Friday night news dump, and it will be discredited by Monday, if not sooner. The Trump has lost already. No one gives a hoot about emails except people grasping at straws.
