Arr! It be Talk Like a Pirate Day. Ye olde tradition was created nineteen years ago this day by John Baur (Ol’ Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap’n Slappy) of Oregon. Costumes have always been part of observances, but pirate-talkers have also dressed up their scurvy dogs and other pets. Here are the Top Ten ‘Talk Like a Pirate Day’ pets!

These photos are adorable. I really like the one of the dog with the chest on his back, that one must have taken some time to create. I never knew that this day existed. My kids will love this day when it comes back next year, since who doesn’t love to talk like a pirate anyway?
How did I miss this day? I love the picture of the cat and the frog dressed up like pirates. I wonder how they got these animals to stay still for so long to get that perfect shot? Whenever I try to dress up my cat, he freaks out and rips everything off.
