Alabama Ministry Puts Hitler Quote On Billboard, Quickly Regrets It

An Opelika, Alabama ministry paid for a billboard pairing a quotation of Adolf Hitler with a biblical proverb, but wisely reconsidered in the course of a single weekend.

Featuring the words “He alone, who owns the youth, gains the future” above Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it,” the billboard message went up in Auburn last Friday and was removed yesterday.

Life Savers Ministries founder James Anderegg admitted that while the group’s intentions were pure, they should have chosen a better quotation.

“We are pulling the billboard and certainly never intended to cause confusion. … Herbert Hoover would have been a far better one to quote when he said, ‘Children are our most valuable resource,'” founder James Anderegg told the Ledger-Enquirer. “We are a children’s organization and had honorable intentions and nothing less.”

There is no word yet on whether the ministry will be charged under Godwin’s Law.
