A good friend sent us these yesterday after finding an article in the March 12, 1951 issue of Life Magazine about a “range war” with certain similarities to the Bundy ranch standoff last week. You can read the whole article here. Our favorite image is the one of Zellar’s son aiming his popgun at a federal agent. Give him a military semiautomatic rifle, and he would look just like this guy, only far less amusing.
