Disproving the adage, “better late than never,” Donald Trump horrified the civilized world today by telling the pregnant widow of a soldier killed in Niger, “He knew what he signed up for.”

The widow of Army Sgt. La David Johnson received the five-minute call from Trump one day after he falsely claimed that Presidents Obama had not called the families of fallen soldiers, Rep. Frederica Wilson told The Post.

“They were astonished,” Wilson said. “It was almost like saying, “You signed up to do this, and if you didn’t want to die, shouldn’t have signed up.”

Wilson, a Democrat from Florida, said the widow Myeshia Johnson spoke with Trump for about 3-5 minutes and her only words were “thank you” at the end of the conversation.

In the future, we can likely expect the Consoler-in-Chief to “comfort” families of a plane crash by telling them, “You know, you’re statistically safer flying in First Class. Or in a private jet.” Or telling those surviving another mass shooting, “If you don’t want to get shot, don’t go out in public.”

Trump was not available for comment, as he was preparing to do battle with an honorable Republican Senator dying of brain cancer.
