Filed under stupidity with a desire for celebrity with the Libertarian movement, Nurse Kaci Hickox tells the government and politicians she will take her potentially infected Ebola ass wherever she wants it to go. Not sure if this is a safety issue or not, but knowing that she was potentially exposed to the virus, then after coming home tells the world that she is pissed at the way she was handled upon arrival by state government and Governor Chris Christie. She now has decided to sue the state as well as federal officials over her treatment and subsequent quarantine, which was somewhat straight out of a horror movie. Of course her decision to just deny any safety guidelines she should follow after returning for a mere 21 days says quite a lot about how she probably treats people with infectious diseases. She just goes right out and spreads it come what may.

She sort of reminds me of those people with the green snot nosed kids at home who are sick, and then goes to work anyway with a terrible cough and fever and just spreads it around to co-workers without any care in the world about who will end up with her kids viruses. You know the ones who do that. I see them everywhere during flu season. Standing in line at the grocery store the checker is coughing into her hand while scanning your food through the checkout line. I always wonder why the stores or retail outlets allow these people to come to work. And I always complain about it too. Its a hardship to have to come home and clean off all the food they touched just to feel decently warm and fuzzy about it later on. Same goes for the grocery baskets with the green snot driveling kids hanging all over the push portions of the grocery cart. Its a wonder why parents aren’t more restrictive of their kids illnesses and other people who could be potentially infected with their kids sicknesses. Its almost like they don’t even care. They revel in their power to make everyone else around them sick.

Now comes this nurse, who will probably be going onto the celebrity talk show circuit with her libertarian talking points about a government out of control, and overreaching into people’s lives for the sake of healthcare and so forth. You see for her, stuck in a dead end nursing job with few if any real rewards, and along with low pay, she has found a way to monetize her situation. Of course she is now empowered over it because of all the media attention she is getting for her viewpoints. So I am sure there will be a book deal, and movie deal, and hopes for the talk show circuit, and possibly getting white listed at Fox News where she can ramble on about the failures of Obamacare, and how the government is out of control, and invading her privacy along with everyone else, by asking her to be aware of what she could potentially give out to others. And all of this anarchy she produced just because she wants to head out in public prior to knowing if she will in fact get infected and possibly infect others after. Of course the hype is out there about Ebola, and I am not one to really play into it all either. But this Nurse gives me pause to think about the Nursing industry as a whole. If they won’t follow some safety procedures and just decide willy nilly to R.U.N.N.O.F.T. to any destination after coming into contact with deadly diseases that could infect others, then what does that say about the current state of healthcare in the United States? “I don’t plan on sticking to the guidelines. I remain appalled by these home quarantine policies that have been forced upon me, even though I am in perfectly good health and feeling strong and have been this entire time completely symptom free,” said Hickox, who wouldn’t emerge from Maine’s 21-day voluntary quarantine until Nov. 10.

“I truly believe this policy is not scientifically nor constitutionally just, and so I’m not going to sit around and be bullied around by politicians and be forced to stay in my home when I am not a risk to the American public.”

Hickox, who pointed out that top health officials believe a quarantine is unnecessary unless someone develops symptoms, also said:

  • She will pursue legal action if Maine forces her into continued isolation: “If the restrictions placed on me by the state of Maine are not lifted by Thursday morning, I will go to court to fight for my freedom.”

  • She plans to return to Africa to help Ebola patients: “My work in Sierra Leone for four weeks was amazing and I feel privileged to have been able to fight this battle and I do plan on going back. It’s not just will I, it’s more of a when.”

  • State officials should maintain health guidelines but New Jersey officials demonstrated a lack of scientific rationale: Hickox said policies need to be based on evidence, but what she saw at Newark airport showed no such basis. “I saw complete disorganization. I saw no leadership, and if you’re going to put a policy like that in place, that impedes on my civil rights, then you need to have the administrative details worked out before you start detaining me in an airport for no reason.”

  1. Paranoid much? Please listen to doctors and scientists, not politicians and pundits. She is asymptomatic. There is little to no threat of her passing it on. We have done a fine job containing Ebola here so far, when you consider only a handful of people have contracted it and there is only 1 death. Lets focus our attention and energy on real issues.

    1. I agree. If she isn’t showing any symptoms, and we know that this is how this virus is spread, then she shouldn’t be quarantined just because everyone else is paranoid about this disease. I think that if her doctors gave her the okay then she should be allowed to go wherever she wants.

      1. I agree as well. Why should she be put on quarantine if there is almost no risk that she would contaminate others? She is a nurse, so I am guessing she is smart enough to know if she can go out or not.

  2. Pretty silly. Although I sympathize with the idea of not being forced against our will to do things, I mean, in order to conduct a globalized society some safety precautions need to be taken.
