350,000 wasps were found in this nest

A South Carolina man who makes a living removing bee swarms and nests from trees and around homes captured a video of what he claims to be the biggest wasp nest in the state’s history.

Eric “Critter” McCool, owner of McCool’s Wildlife Control & Bee Extractions, estimated the nest to be 10 feet long by 7 feet wide and 2 feet tall with an estimated 350,000 wasps. McCool removed 37 queens by hand. He doesn’t use pesticides, instead relying on what he describes as “bee vacuum and grabbing bags.”) He tears loose pieces of the comb and stuffs them into trash bags.

Mccool removes all kinds of nasty critters and pests. Recent images on his Facebook page show him retrieving a large python for a customer.

  1. That is terrifying, but you can’t blame the wasps. They found themselves a nice camper for the winter months. Hopefully they can get settled in somewhere else without any people around.

I’m happy he did the job without using any pesticides. I love how his company name says “extractions” rather than “extermination”.

  2. The sound was unreal. It was like something out of a horror film. I can’t believe he extracted all of those queen bees by hand. That is a very brave man. I am glad that he doesn’t use pesticides to kill the bees.

  3. I can’t bring myself to watch the video for this or any others like it. I am highly allergic and I would be more freaked out by the sounds. Just thinking about it is enough to make me start itching.

  4. I can’t believe how many bees were in that camper. I would definitely not be any where near that. We had a problem like this one time with honey bees living in the side of our house and we had a man come and extract them. It’s better that they are not using any chemicals to get rid of the bees, our bee population is low enough.

  5. Oh my! This is so scary. Thankfully, nobody got hurt by these wasps. It really did sound like a horror film like LittleButterfly mentioned. Simply incredible.
