A marijuana-infused soda was pulled from three Washington state recreational marijuana stores after bottles started began to explode while idle on the store shelves.
“It sounded like a shotgun going off,” Zach Henifin, manager of Top Shelf Cannabis in Bellingham, told KOMO-TV, Seattle. “You can actually feel it, it was that explosive.”
Henifin’s store received 330 bottles of the Legal brand sparkling pomegranate soda. The brand is a bit special; it’s laced with a marijuana and produced by Mirth Provisions of Longview. The next day the employees were repeatedly startled by the sound of glass bottles exploding.
Bummer, dude!
I wonder how this actually passed the initial inspection? Did they not think about what happens during transport? I wonder if it is similar to when you shake up a soda in a can?
Maybe the glass was too thin for the contents or there was too much fizz. Something that they should have known about & test for, for sure.
But how embarrassing for a business in an industry that is trying to take itself seriously.
Wow, that is crazy. There definitely should have been more testing done to prevent a situation like this from happening. I can’t believe what the owner of the store had to go through just to get rid of the “pot pop”. Hopefully if anyone bought the soda this didn’t happen to them, that could get messy.
Wow. I am surprised they didn’t know about this before they put it on store shelves. Hopefully they will be more careful and do more testing next time.
I guess the product inspectors were just too stoned to realize all that bottle popping wasn’t going on in their heads. Luckily, nobody was hurt.
It’s a good thing no one was hurt. I wonder what caused this to happen. It has to be more than just the fizz in the soda that caused this. I wonder if any bottles exploded during transportation, but no one bothered to report it.
