John Beihn

A former police officer who appeared in court last week on a drunken-driving charge was arrested three more times over the next 11 hours, according to The Connecticut Post.

39-year-old John Biehn, of Southington,  Connecticut, was charged twice last Monday with drunken driving and accused of shoplifting at a Wal-Mart in Wallingford,  early Tuesday. The first incident occurred just before 1:30 p.m., Vernon police said,  after receiving a call that a blue Hyundai Sonata was being driven erratically and on the wrong side of Route 83.
He told the police was coming from state Superior Court in Rockville. He failed a standardized sobriety test, and police  charged him with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.

He was released from Vernon Police Headquarters to his wife — who is a current police officer in Bridgeport — Police Det. Kimberly Biehn, on $2,500 bond.
At 8:20 p.m. Monday, John Biehn was arrested again on a drunken-driving charge by Wallingford Police, and was bonded out. A few hours later, after midnight, Wallingford police arrested Biehn again in Wal-Mart after he was held by store security and accused of stealing various items. He was charged with larceny and released on $5,000 bond.

Biehn is former Bridgeport police officer who resigned from duty after he was convicted for what  police described as “a drunken rampage” at the Marina Village housing complex, firing his gun at random targets and breaking apartment windows.

He was convicted of first-degree reckless endangerment and sentenced to one year of incarceration, which was later suspended. He was also sentenced to three years’ probation.

Biehn goes back to court on December 22nd.

  1. Why on earth was he released the second time he was arrested? Wouldn’t that have violated the bail from the first arrest? It looks like this guy got special treatment due to being an ex-cop or because his wife is a cop.

    1. That is something I don’t understand either. I mean two can happen and it has, but three? It seems like someone was sleeping on the job to let this guy out again. Who cares what he did in the past too? I mean it is the present that we care about, him presently on the road running around like an idiot drunk behind the wheel.

      1. So true. It just makes no sense. The cops would have had to see the other arrest or tickets right? Maybe they don’t go right into the system? I can’t imagine that being the case though.

        1. I want to know how in the world someone who had a job as important as an officer of the law would do something like this once, let alone two other times. I mean did his brain get squished in the line of duty or what?

          1. Being a cop doesn’t exempt you from being an alcoholic or an addict, cacodoxy. That doesn’t make it right, clearly, but it’s obvious the man has a problem. If the system doesn’t register the arrests right away, then it needs to be changed.

    2. That is what I want to know too. How can you be picked up twice and not taken to jail? Holy cow! I wonder if he will do jail time now? I think it is three strikes and you are out, right?

      1. I guess instead of getting their quota in they just decided to be merry and let him go, twice. This would never happen to a normal person, goodness just think of how many lives he put in danger being out like that.

  2. He’s taken “going on a bender” to a whole new level. The guy should have stayed in the drunk tank until he sobered up, especially after the second occurrence. If he was released to his wife, she was supposed to be responsible for him and failed in that respect. He should lose his job and his license.

    1. Should she be punished as well? Unless I tied my spouse to the bed and left ’em tied up I doubt I could stop mine. I understand what you are saying here but it seems a little odd, would you be able to totally control your drunk spouse?
